And because our jobs take up such big part of our lives, in a perfect world, work would be something that we think is fun or rewarding. But many Japanese high school students think work is for making money and nothing else, according to a survey by the Japanese National Institution for Youth Enducation (NIYE) The survery included students from Japan, US, China and South Korea. Around 2,000 to 5,000 students were included from each country The students were asked if they agreed that having a job is just a way to get money. In Japan, 69% of students said they strongly agreed with this statement. But the other countries had much lower number of students who strongly agreed - 16% in the United States, 18% in China and 32% in South Korea. The survey also asked students if they thought working would be fun. Only 19% of the students from Japan said yes - again, lower than the rate among students from the US (35%), China (26%) and South Korea (29%) Teppei Aoyama from the NIYE said he believed Japanes Student's opinions were based on assumptions, and not their own experiences.
